Mr. Temescu has been involved with the financing and strategic direction of companies in the sustainability space for more than 20 years. Currently a consultant/advisor to companies with water technologies, he was the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tanager Holdings, as well as Senior Executive of its international subsidiaries. Tanager’s area of focus was energy efficiency in the built environment, with projects in the UK, Lithuania, Latvia, the United Arab Emirates, Ghana and Costa Rica. Prior to the development of Tanager, he founded Lyric Capital in 1998, which managed two venture capital funds focused primarily on technology, health and sustainability. From 1993 to 1998, he was Managing Director of Eldon Capital, which managed more than $200 million in private equity investments worldwide. From 1991 to 1993, he was Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and a director of Concord General Corporation, a financial services holding company with 18 offices in the United States, more than 500 employees and more than $100 million in annual revenue. From 1985 to 1991, he was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs & Co. and Smith Barney specializing in financial institutions – banks, insurance companies and asset managers. The clients for which he provided services included some of the largest financial institutions in the world. He was the lead banker in raising Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s first equity fund, the $450 million GS Capital Growth Fund. He was also instrumental in raising funds for Fidelity and Putnam. He spent 10 years, from 1973 to 1983, as a financial journalist for a variety of publications, culminating in the position of editor of the Business and Finance Section of the International Herald Tribune in Paris, France. He has also written for Time Magazine, Dow Jones, Inc., Institutional Investor, and numerous other publications. From 2000 through its IPO in 2007 and until its sale in 2010, he served on the Board of Directors and audit committee of Salary.com, Inc., a NASDAQ-traded provider of online compensation management solutions. He has served on numerous boards of investee companies. Mr. Temescu holds a BS from the State University of New York, an MBA from Cornell University and has done advanced course work at the Harvard Business School.
