Radu has over 15 years of experience in medical devices and biotechnology. During the past three years, he has been advising and investing in startups. Previously, he was part of the executive team that took Gambro private, later sold to Baxter for $4 billion.
At Gambro, Radu led the South East Asia and India operation and scaled it from 15 people to over 120 in 18 months while bringing it to profitability. He launched the AK96, the world’s first complex medical device designed for and tested specifically for these markets. Radu headed up Strategic Marketing for Gambro’s $350 million ICU business unit where he led product development on the company’s largest R&D project and worked on optimizing health economic outcomes of CRRT therapy. Previously, he was head of Strategy and Business Development for Gambro.
Prior to this, Radu worked in consulting, market research, and finance, where he interviewed hundreds of clinicians to uncover product market fit and developed growth strategies for med tech companies. He also worked to identify investment opportunities for corporate venture groups. He majored in philosophy at Saint Mary’s College and economics at Columbia University. He has lived in seven countries throughout Europe and Asia. Currently, he resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
